Orilissa is an oral gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor antagonist used for the management of moderate to severe pain associated with endometriosis in women.
Recommended Dosage:
- 150 mg once daily for up to 24 months (for normal or mild hepatic impairment)
- 200 mg twice daily for up to 6 months
- 150 mg once daily for 6 months in patients with moderate hepatic impairment
- Take at the same time daily, with or without food
- Use the lowest effective dose based on the severity of symptoms
Missed Dose: Take as soon as remembered on the same day and resume regular schedule
Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Loss: Prolonged use may result in dose-dependent reduction in BMD, which may not be reversible. Contraindicated in women with osteoporosis.
Menstrual Suppression: May alter menstrual bleeding patterns, masking early pregnancy signs. Discontinue treatment if pregnancy is confirmed.
Suicidal Thoughts or Behavior: Reported in clinical trials. Patients should seek immediate help if symptoms occur.
Liver Function: ALT elevations may occur. Monitor liver function; assess risk/benefit if abnormalities are noted.
