Brexafemme is an oral triterpenoid antifungal used for:
- Treatment of Vulvovaginal Candidiasis (VVC) – also known as vaginal yeast infection
- Reduction in recurrence of Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis (RVVC) in adult and post-menarchal females
FDA-approved and the first non-azole oral antifungal for VVC, Brexafemme offers a novel treatment option for women with limited choices.
Recommended Dosage:
- For VVC Treatment:
Take 2 tablets (300 mg) in the morning and 2 tablets (300 mg) in the evening of the same day (total: 600 mg in one day) - For Prevention of RVVC:
Take 2 tablets (300 mg) in the morning and 2 tablets (300 mg) in the evening on one day per month, for 6 months continuously
Brexafemme can be taken with or without food. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water.
Pregnancy Risk: Contraindicated during pregnancy due to fetal toxicity risk. Confirm pregnancy status before treatment and monthly during RVVC prevention therapy.
Contraception: Use effective contraception during and up to 4 days after the last dose to avoid unintended exposure during pregnancy.
Drug Interactions: Ibrexafungerp may interact with other medications. Inform your doctor about all ongoing treatments.
