TEYSUNO is an oral chemotherapy drug used for the treatment of advanced gastric (stomach) cancer. It is a fixed-dose combination of three active ingredients:
- Tegafur: a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), which inhibits DNA synthesis
- Gimeracil: inhibits the degradation of 5-FU, enhancing its efficacy
- Oteracil: reduces gastrointestinal toxicity of 5-FU
TEYSUNO is commonly prescribed in combination with cisplatin for adult patients diagnosed with advanced or metastatic gastric cancer.
Patients with low white blood cell (WBC) counts must be monitored closely for infections or complications related to neutropenia.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) testing is advised prior to initiating therapy.
In case of diarrhea, patients should be monitored for dehydration and receive appropriate fluid and electrolyte replacement therapy.
A DPD enzyme deficiency test is recommended before starting TEYSUNO, as DPD deficiency can increase the risk of severe toxicity.
