BESREMi is an interferon alfa-2b therapy used for the treatment of adults with polycythemia vera (PV), a rare chronic blood disorder characterized by the overproduction of red blood cells.
Recommended Dosage:
- Starting dose: 100 mcg every 2 weeks by subcutaneous injection
- For patients receiving hydroxyurea: start at 50 mcg
- Increase by 50 mcg every 2 weeks (maximum: 500 mcg) until blood counts stabilize
- Dose modifications or interruption may be required based on tolerability and lab parameters
