Feraccru is an oral iron replacement therapy used in the treatment of iron deficiency in adults, particularly beneficial for patients who are intolerant to traditional iron supplements or have conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Recommended Dosage:
- One 30 mg capsule taken twice daily, morning and evening
- Should be taken on an empty stomach, with half a glass of water
- Avoid taking with food, as it reduces iron absorption
Continue treatment for at least 12 weeks or until iron stores are restored, based on blood tests
Not recommended during IBD flare-ups or in patients with hemoglobin <9.5 g/dL
Avoid concurrent use with IV iron, methyldopa, dimercaprol, or chloramphenicol
Contains lactose and coloring agents (Sunset Yellow FCF, Allura Red AC) – may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals
Keep out of reach of children – iron overdose can be fatal for children under 6
Use with caution in pregnant women; untreated iron deficiency poses more risk than treatment itself
