KEVZARA® (Sarilumab) is an interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor antagonist prescribed to adult patients with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who have not responded adequately to or are intolerant of one or more disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs).

Recommended Dosage:

  • Standard Dose: 200 mg once every two weeks via subcutaneous injection

  • Hepatotoxicity: Elevations in liver enzymes (ALT/AST) have been observed. Monitor LFTs periodically.

  • Lipid Changes: Monitor cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Manage per clinical guidelines.

  • GI Perforation: Risk may increase in patients with diverticulitis or concurrent NSAID/steroid use.

  • Hypersensitivity: Reactions such as rash, urticaria, or anaphylaxis may occur. Discontinue immediately in such cases.

  • Vaccination: Avoid live vaccines during therapy. Time vaccines according to immunosuppressive guidelines.

  • Not recommended in patients with active liver disease or hepatic impairment.
