It is the first targeted therapy approved for SLE in over a decade and works by reducing inflammation caused by type I interferons, a key contributor to lupus activity.

- 300 mg administered as an IV infusion over 30 minutes, once every 4 weeks
- Maintain a minimum interval of 14 days between doses
- If a scheduled infusion is missed, administer it as soon as possible
Serious Infections: Saphnelo may increase the risk of infections. Suspend treatment in case of severe or unresponsive infections.
Infusion & Hypersensitivity Reactions: Pre-medicate if the patient has a history of infusion-related issues. Monitor for angioedema, rash, or anaphylaxis.
Risk of Malignancies: Use caution in patients with a history of cancer. Evaluate risks before initiating or continuing therapy.
Vaccine Considerations: Avoid live or live-attenuated vaccines during treatment. Update all immunizations before initiating therapy.
Concomitant Use: Do not combine with other biologics, such as B-cell targeted therapies, unless explicitly recommended.
